Scientific Foresight '07: Plug in your Ideas, Light up the World!

Scientific Foresight '07: Plug in your Ideas, Light up the World!

www.scientificforesight.org

Date: 22, 23 and 24 December 2007

Venue: Sri Krishna Memorial Hall, Patna, India.

Dear All,

On behalf of the organizing committee of Scientific Foresight 2007, it is our pleasure to invite you to the "Scientific Foresight 2007" symposium on 22 nd-24th December 2007 at Patna.

Started in 2005, Scientific Foresight is an effort to trigger the development of scientific temperament among youth, particularly those who are in Bihar, and ignite their scientific mind to bring about social, economic, and intellectual development through applications of science and technology.

The event aims at:
• Bringing business and scientific community on a single platform for exchange of ideas, knowledge, experience, and trends.
• Providing a learning platform for students to showcase their talent as well as develop the right scientific temperament through interaction with larger scientific community.
• Providing a platform for local scientific institutions to interact with their counterparts from various parts of India as well as representatives from some foreign universities as well for sharing ideas and best practices for improving the quality of education and research.

The social and economical development of a society, particularly a socially and economically backward though intellectually brilliant society like Bihar, is knowledge driven. The development of scientific temperament among youth, knowledge base, and infrastructure for research and development to cultivate and groom this temperament become key differentiators.

It would indeed be an honour if you accept our humble invitation and share some of your precious time with young students and academicians to ignite their mind. Your presence would go a long way in bringing back the intellectual curiosity among youth to trigger social and economic development.

We aspire to hear from you soon. Enclosed is a brief description of the event, its history, people behind the endeavor, and some of the esteemed members of the scientific community expected to participate in this year's event.

Convenor, RamRaj Pandey

Origaniser: BiharBrains(BBrains Development Society) ,One Bihar, Bihari , Cool Bihari and other NRIs based organization .
This event is now being supported and sponsored by  Department of Science & Technology, and Dept of IT,Govt of Bihar.

Providing Land to Institutes of National Repute

Bihar college of Engineering (BCE), Patna was upgraded by the central govt as  "National Institute of Technology" some years back. Though it has its own campus near Ashok Raj Path under Patna University but still we hear the voice that the space (infrastrucure) for NIT,Patna is not sufficient  The total area occupied by NIT, Patna is the least among all NITs in India and even below the national standards.. As result, this institute is running short of class rooms, acute crisis of experienced professors and seminar halls, department labs etc. Time to time, this news comes to newspapers but state govt keeps mum.

Last Year, Ministry of Human Resource announced three IITs in India, In that One IIT was given to Bihar too . The central govt gave clear cut indication that location should be near airport and all infrastructure (means roads, electricity, water etc) should be given by state govt. After so much of discussion, it was finalized to set up IIT near Bihta at Patna. Once team of IIT committee surveyed this location too. But I heard that till today there is no good response from state govt to central govt because land owners are not ready and govt doesn't want to involve much as govt afraid on repeating West Bengal case in Bihar.

Even IIFT has been announced in Bihar, but I couldn't hear any news about this institute where going to be established and when batches are going to start. The presence of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) in Bihar is good for fashion industry and more than that this institute has got good reputation in India. But it seems, again govt failed to provide land and all infrastructure to IIFT management.

One National School of Management (IIM type) was announced which was going to be started in Hindi Bhawan and the proposal was taken back because of the sharp criticism by all circles. This was announced that some other place of National school of Management (IIM type) will be provided but no decision yet.

Condolence message on Sudden demise of Sri M.M Jha

I socked to see this news of sudden demise of Sri Madan Mohan  Jha , a charismatic beaurocrat & true educationist of Bihar. His death is a great loss to Bihar . I express  my deep condolence  to his bereaved family.

He will be remembered for  his contribution towards revamping education system in Bihar. The establishment of many institutes of higher education  and  mass level appointment of primary teachers in a record time were an example of his excellency under his able leadership . The implementation of " Common school system " was  a unique example for the whole nation.

The time when Bihar is in the process of revamping its education system , his presence was required.

"If Bihar comes out of educational anarchy and retain its past glory, the contribution of this patriot will be remembered by a sense of proud".

May god give peace in his soul!

You are the last Hope for Bihar : A discussion

Dear Ajay Jee & All
Generally, I am scielent reader of this group mails having the feelings for the development of Bihar. This is really bad that we donot have any IIT and CSIR labs in Bihar. What is the reason? We donot have talent? Personally I think we have good potentials. Recently I visited USA, where I met Prof. Brajendra Mishra, I was surprise to see him as Chairman of TMS (Texas Metallurgical Society) a prestigious scientific society of world. When I ask,he told I am from Madhubani. Now, he is permanantly settled in USA. Many other senior people also I have seen in S. Korea. They all have the opinion that Bihar has no basic infrastructure like IITs / CSIR labs. After spending 11 yrs in NML(CSIR, lab), Jamshedpur  now i am in S. Korea.
Japan govt. must fulfill their commitment of collaboration. For the betterment of IIT Bihar after the establishment also we shall try heartly to collaborate this institute with worlds high class institute. At least I commit if there will be IIT in Bihar, I shall try my best to collaborate KIGAM with IIT-Bihar.
Goverment should seriously think for the good academic and research environment by establishing IIT & CSIR labs in Bihar.

You have got it wrong
It was in the agenda for discussionbetween Indian and Japanese Premier during his just concluded visit.
Lobbying from Bihar at the highest level which should have been done was not done due to sabotage by a pervert.
When CM met Jap PM in a dinner thrown by Indian PM he mentioned IIT bihar but at that time it was little late.as before that the all important meeting had taken place bet the PMs where this item was deferred

Dear All,

This is very bad to hear this news about neglect of IIT in Bihar and there was no discussion on Japanese premiere visit though it was one agenda for Hon'ble CM Bihar. Talking on Nalanda university is good but sidelining or not talking on IIT in Bihar with assistance from Japanese govt when Japapnese govt has taken more interst in establishing IIT in Bihar is now a serious concern .

I don't know what has prevailed him(Hon'ble CM) to pull back from this but certainly some things wrong is going on,
Now we all should send letter to Hon'ble CM to take up this matter very seriously in front of Japanese govt . If it is required Sri Nitish kumar jee should visit Japan .

The establishment of IIT in Bihar in association with Japanese govt has importance for becoming center of excellence for which IITs are  known . We all know that all the four IITs are doing good which were established in association with foreign collaborations.

BiharBrains(BBrains development society ,www.biharbrains.org ) will now think about writing  letter to CM/PM/HRD minsitry of India as well as PM of Japan for taking his issue very seriously.
I would like to requiest you all to join hands with us as collaborative effort.

I do request all of you for try utmost possible what can you do for the development of Bihar. This is in the best interest of the state as well as the nation.
we have to develop Bihar as educational hub ,, and it will be when we all give our service to motherland.  Please come forward for execution and its better execution.

Looking forward for the positive reponse.

Dear Friends

All Central Institutions have a tendency of getting located near Metropolitan Centers so Bihar falls in a rainshadow area.Out of 500 or national center of Exellence Bihar has none.Recently We have got an IIT which is to be located near Bihta.

Taking advantage of  guilt feeling at Govt of India level I made HRD GOI to recommend the Bihar's IIT over the competing claims of IIT Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh for Japanese asssistance To be decided during the recent visit of Jap PM To India. This was in pursuance of offer made by Japanese PM during his visit to India during 2005.

It is not a question of finacial assistance assistance alone but of total Japanese Commitment for all times to come towards development of this center. And its indirect spinoffs for welfare and development of Bihar.

Unfortunately due to sabotage by a pervert Bihari officer the importance of this could not be impressed on NItish Kumar as I was   prevented from reaching him and all my efforts to take advantage of this historic opportunity was systematically thawarted by him. This is no less important for Bihar Than the Nuke Deal for India .

All IIT who have come without solid technical collaboration are nowhere IIT Gauhati is a case in point.

It is really a question for Do or Die for Bihar and all Biharis whose heart pines for the Development of the much maligned  Motherland

Let us all joint hands wherever you are to request Japenese Government and GOI not to do this injustice and overlook the claim of Bihar in favour of more developed States. At the same time we have to Request Nitish Kumar to get cracking as you are all behind him as one in this fight for Vibrant Bihar.

Political Apathy For Bihar

Thx to Hon'ble MP Sri RamKripal Yadav who had also earlier also raised this question in Parliament but it seems our own other politicians doesn't support and doesn't even know what is IISER and need for IISER in Bihar.

Our Polilitcians are involving themself in dragging themselves only, doing heinous politics, they don't involve themselves in the development actvity of the state or region, They don't even know what is IISER ,They don't take responsibility for bringing good institute in Bihar. Atleast this is the reason why Bihar didn't get any good institute in Bihar in the past, This is the reason why Bihar got bad name in eveything .

Our politicians should learn from people of South India/western India .........They all sit together in Parliament but other parts of leader discuss about some development of their region , our leaders discuss the thing which he/she should not discuss or atleast not related with the development.

I have seen statement from Tamil Nadu Hon;ble CM just after Hon'ble PM Accouncement on Aug 15,2007 about setting up of IISER /IIT/IIM , he released demand for all the three institutes in TN in front of press and then CII gave supporttive response of Karunanidhi demand.
But here in Bihar ,, after 2 yrs battle , we just meet DST bihar, Our Hon;ble CM just send letter to Hon'ble PM which is not enough . He should do what TN CM did before.
Hon'ble CM is even not accepted today meeting with BB delegation.

Thx to DST ,Bihar and also new Principal secy Sri Ajay Kumar jee who understands our's view and also why setting up of IISER/IIT are neccessary for Bihar. He is doing his best job for Bihar.

Sri Ajay jee as Principal secy of DST ,Bihar met Hon'ble CM and gave presentation about IISER but in response only writing letter to Hon'ble PM is not enough . Our CM should raise voice in support of our demand the way in which TN CM is did ,, but till today he could not. Even national daily of Bihar has not given good coverage of Letter of CM to PM for demand of IISER in Bihar. It should come in bold on first page ..

Lobbying is very important for all MPs of Bihar / Lobbying is very important for the noble cause , for the development of the any state or region .
But I feel that we lack in that .
This is completey a case of Political apathy
