RANCHI: It may be India's superfast, fully air-conditioned, deluxe train, but next time you are travelling in the Rajdhani, be sure to check the expiry date on the packaged food items served aboard.
Passengers on the Ranchi-New Delhi Rajdhani were in for a shock on Sunday when they realised they were being served ice creams packed back in 2004. By lucky coincidence, Jharkhand food controller Pradeep Kumar was also travelling in the train and was served the same expired ice cream.
Taking note of the negligence, he immediately directed the food inspector of Ranchi to inspect the stocks of the company that supplied the ice cream. On Monday, food inspector K P Singh inspected the manufacturing unit of Rollick brand of ice cream served in the train.
However, in his letter written to state food controller after inspection, Singh has reportedly said all the ice creams in the manufacturing unit were found to be satisfactory. Meanwhile, some of the passengers lodged a complaint with the railways.
