PURNIA: A man, carrying a pistol and wanted in connection with several murder and extortion cases, was arrested on Thursday from Harda ground where RJD supremo Lalu Prasad was addressing an election meeting.
Purnia SP Sudhanshu Kumar said acting on a tip-off, police searched out Mahendra Mehta from among the crowd at Harda ground, near here, but waited for Prasad to finish his speech and leave, after which they arrested him.
A pistol was recovered from his possession, Kumar said. He said Mahendra, who was wanted in connection with several criminal offences, including murder and extortion, was being interrogated.
