The road blockade was lifted only after an FIR against Dadan and nine of his supporters had been lodged and arrest orders issued against them by the Dumraon SDPO, Sunil Kumar. Later, Pehalwan along with his four supporters, whose names also figured in the FIR, surrendered in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Buxar.
They were remanded to judicial custody after their bail plea was rejected. The RJD leader, reportedly nursing severe injuries, has been admitted to Patna Medical College and Hospital, police said. Several political leaders cutting across party lines have condemned the incident. A posse of policemen are patrolling the site of the clash to keep the peace.
Senior administration officials said more forces will be dispatched there on Wednesday and patrolling intensified to thwart any untoward attempt to incident violence on the day of polling.
