New Delhi, Oct. 7 (PTI): A total number of 584 candidates, including 39 women, are in the fray for the 61 assembly seats in Bihar during the first phase of Assembly polls on October 18.
According to statistics released by the Election Commission, a total of 1,31,62,881 electors, including 61,10,458 women, are eligible to exercise their franchise in the first phase.
More than one woman candidate features in seven constituencies, it said.
A total of 18,635 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) would be pressed into service in 14,343 polling stations during the first phase, the statistics showed.
