MOM of BiharBrains 3rd LOCAL PATNA CHAPTER MEET(4/11/05)

    Third local meet of the Patna Chapter of Bihar Brains Society Meet was held on 4/11/05 at 11:00 AM in Maitri Shanti Bhawan, Scholastic Center. Following was the agenda:
(1)    Annual Report of Bihar Brain's Society was presented;
(2)    Financial report was presented;
(3)    Progress in Society's Registration was reported;
(4)    Progress in opening the Bank Account was reported;
(5)    Progress in opening of the Counseling and Resource Center at Patna University was reported;
(6)    Discussion regarding Magazine and Journal Data base for the Scholastic Center;
(7)    Discussion regarding acquiring a hall in the same building for Academic Consultancy Service Center.

The meeting was attended by the following members:

(3)    Shri. Ranjit Kumar, Research Scholar working towards Ph D, Biotechnology, IIT, Mumbai;
(4)    Dr. Bijay Kumar Sharma, Lecturer, NIT, Patna;
(5)    Shri. Vijay Sharan, Treasurer, Bihar Brains Society;
(6)    Shri. Shyamnandan Prasad Singh, member of Bihar Engineering Service Associations;

The following resolutions were adopted and approved unanimously:
(1)Greater transparency should be maintained in keeping the financial accounts.
    (a) INCOMES should be properly entered date wise, contributor wise or service wise( income from the various services provided to various student groups);
    (b) EXPENDITURES should be entered date wise and at the end of each month they should be collated activity wise, facility wise and consumable wise;
    (c) A list of founder members, active members and student members should be there. Their contributions should be entered and the defaulters list should be generated and reminders sent to the defaulters each month;
    (d) We use LOTUS or suitable SOFTWARE for the purpose. If no suitable software is there then we should develop our own SOFTWARE;

(2)Hard Copies should be discontinued, as the student community at large is not being benefited. Through a global chat meet let us decide by consensus the list of magazines and journals, which we should get for maximum impact. Meanwhile Patna Local Chapter is recommending the following magazines and journals:
    (i) Electronics for You, India,
    (ii) Chip, India,
    (iii) Dataquest, India,
    (iv) Computer Today, India,
    (v) DIGIT, India,
    (vi) Science Reporter, India,
    (vii) Current Science, India,
    (viii) PC World, England,
    (ix) IEEE SPECTRUM, USA,
    (x) SKY & TELESCOPE, USA,
    (xi) Scientific American, USA,
    (xii) New Scientist, England;

(3)Ranjit Kumar will send CD containing all the issues of last year of Scientific American and New Scientist;

(4) Through Global Chat Meet we will decide the Economic Model to be strictly followed in our ongoing activities;

(5)The proposed economic model proposed based on previous discussions, suggestions and resolutions:
    (i) We will take no donations from any Agencies (Foreign or National). This had been emphatically resolved in the second meet of Patna Local Chapter;
    (ii) Our incomes will be strictly from Founder Members, Active Members and Student Members;
    (iii) Our incomes will also come from the services we will provide to the student community or from the enterprises we will establish under TEKBRAINS;
    (iv) We will lay special emphasis on establishing enterprises within India, particularly in Bihar, connected with NANO Technology, Biotechnology, IT , Chip design and alternative energy resources;          

(6) Through Global Chat we will arrive at a common minimum program for the rejuvenation of India, with emphasis on Bihar;

(7)Right now we will establish our foothold in Bihar by getting involved in NIT, Patna:
    (i) Getting magazines and journals of relevance;
    (ii) Running computer courses which are must but are missing in the curriculum such as C,C++, AUTOCAD, MATLAB and ORCAD and the likes;

(8)    Once our foothold is established we will spread to the colleges of Patna University and subsequently to the colleges of other Universities in Bihar;

(9)Bihar Brains Academic Consultancy Services will be retained for providing consultancies in problem areas faced by the students in Bihar.
We will have a pool of experts who will provide the requisite consultancy as and when required on payment of consultancy fees. Rishu provided the consultancy to Mechanical Students but was paid no consultancy fees- this mistake should not be made in future;

(10)We will sign the hall upstairs, which is 2000square feet. The rent of this hall is Rs 3300/- + electric charges;

(11) The rent Rs 2500/- + Rs 3300/- will be paid by the Academic Consultancy Services (Bihar Brains);

(12) The Academic Consultancy Services will maintain its independent account book;

(13) We have a new member SNP Singh, ex- bceian, an active member of Bihar Engineering Service Association. He get the registration process expedited.
