In a bid to tide over the domestic cooking gas crisis in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has requested the Centre to increase LPG supply to the state.
In a letter to Union Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyer, copies of which were released to press today, Kumar said the state received only 53,953 tonnes of LPG last year, which was 25 per cent short of the normal requirement.
The gap between demand and supply was increasing by each passing day as the state has received only 11,691 tonnes of LPG for month of December against the average monthly requirement of 19,600 tonnes for the entire state, he said.
The state received 16,850.60 tonnes in July, 15,904.70 tonnes in August, 14,160.70 tonnes in August, 14,160.70 tonnes in September, 14,143.61 tonnes in October and 13,189.520 tonnes in November.
