Blaming the media and "vested interests" for, what he termed, "making a mountain out of mole hill," over his favour-seeking letter, the governor tried to put up a brave front, saying: "I am not perturbed or worried over such accusations levelled against me and I will continue to work for the betterment of Dalits."
The governor is understood to have discussed matters relating to tainted officials and execution of the pending non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against various persons prior to the assembly elections, with the top officials.
In this regard, he said that the state administration was extending full cooperation to the Election Commission (EC) and senior state officials were holding regular meetings with the EC towards ensuring free and fair elections.
State DGP Ashish Ranjan Sinha, who was also present, while admitting that there is an increase in the number criminal cases registered, however, sought to remind the people to look at the "positive side" of police actions. "Criminals commit crimes, but they don't go unpunished," he said.
