PATNA: Railway minister Lalu Prasad is asking voters to forgive him for mistakes of the past. Preparing to campaign for the Bihar assembly elections likely to take place in October-November, the RJD chief says he wants voters to "forgive and forget".
"I have no problem requesting people to forgive me for past mistakes and again support us. After all, the people are everything," he said, sitting under a mango tree at the official residence of his wife Rabri Devi, the former CM. Lalu said it was the people who had voted RJD to power in 1990 and it would again be they who would vote the party back to power.
This is going to be part of Lalu's new strategy to touch people's hearts by personally asking for forgiveness.
"Poor people have tasted freedom, self-respect and prestige during our last rule. More importantly, they had shared power in the government," he said. "But better late than never, they (poor people) have realised that the situation has again become hostile for them."
