PATNA: In a smart operation, the city police have seized 50 kg contraband ganja worth Rs 2 lakh from a gang in Bahadurpur under Kadamkuan police station on Sunday morning.
Six persons of the gang identified as Sunil Kumar of Jathuli village of Fatuha block, Prabhat Kumar alias Bunty, Jairaj Kumar Singh, Abhishek Kumar, all of Khajekalan, Mohammad Firoz and Sanjay Kumar, both of Paschim Darwaja, have been taken into custody.
After getting a tip-off that a gang is active in the state capital dealing in ganja, the police formed a core group with Town DSP R K Dubey at its head and comprised inspector Kadam Kuan police station Ramakant Prasad, sub-inspector B K Chauhan and SI, Chandan Kumar.
Informed sources said that about four days back, B K Chauhan contacted the kingpin of the gang, Sunil Kumar, as prospective customer for purchasing ganja.
Initially, the gang members were apprehensive about the 'customer' but once the gangster, Sunil Kumar, was paid a sum of Rs 20,000 as advance money for the 'deal' by Chauhan, all doubts about the customer disappeared.
