17 IPS officers shifted, Patna gets new SSP
PATNA: In a fresh exercise of shuffling of IPS officers as a prelude to the ensuing assembly elections, the state government on Saturday shifted 17 IPS officers, including six IGs and SSP of Patna N H Khan.
On the other hand, the Centre has already rushed 174 companies of the Central Para Military Force (CPMF), including ITBP, BSF and CRPF, to Bihar. These forces are scheduled to arrive here on Sunday for deployment during elections in different parts of the state. According to a notification issued by the state government, IG (training) Rajvardhan Sharma will take charge of IG, Darbhanga, while IG (modernisation) Sunit Kumar has been asked to join as IG (Muzaffarpur) in place of B S Jayant, who has been appointed IG, economic offence wing (EOW).

DIG (Saharsa) Umesh Kumar Singh has been made DIG (personnel). In a major development, senior SP, Patna, N H Khan has been replaced by SP (Sitamarhi) Kundan Krishnan.
Khan will join the BMP-5 as its commandant. Bhrigu Srinivasan, who was on Central deputation, is the new SP of Banka, while SP (Muzaffarpur) Amit Lodha will take charge from Satyendra Singh as SP (Kaimur). Commandant, BMP-5, Ratn Sanjay is the new SP of Muzaffarpur while SP (Banka) D N Gupta will go to Katihar as superintendent of railway police. Arvind Kumar, who was on Central deputation, has been made SP (Jamui) in place of J P N Singh who has been made the commandant, BMP-16. Sushil Khopade, who also was on Central deputation, has been asked to join as SP (Aurangabad) replacing Sunil Kumar Sinha, who is now AIG (inspection) at the police headquarters. DGP A R Sinha said that of the 12 IPS officers on Central deputation, nine have been released by the ministry of home affairs while the latter has expressed its inability to the rest, including Niraj Sinha, as he is currently posted in Bangladesh. Sinha further said that of the 600 companies of CPMF demanded by the state government for deployment during election, the Centre has sent in the first instalment, 174 companies which will arrive here on Sunday. He further said that during the past one week, the police have executed 15,300 non-bailable warrants. Now the government is tackling the problem of overflowing of jails in the state and that a proposal is being mooted to open camp jails to accommodate absconders. During the execution of warrants, the police made a prize catch when they nabbed notorious criminal Nandkishore Singh, who is accused in 40 cases of kidnapping and murder in Bhagalpur district alone, at Sitamarhi. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/msid-1227194,curpg-3,fright-0,right-0.cms
