The following anthology has been taken from the book ¡°Paths of Innovators¡± Vol. II., By R. Parthasarathy, East West Books (Madras) Pvt.Ltd.

The notable Scientists of Modern India are :

Homi Bhabha (1909-1966) - Established Atomic Energy Commission.

M. N. Saha (1893-1956)- Stellar Physics.
S.N.Bose (1894-1974)- He gave the theoretical formulation of Black Body Radiation. From this arose Bose-Einstein Statistics. All force exchange particles are known as Bosons. Photons are for the exchange of Electromagnetic Force, Gravitons are for the exchange Gravitational Force , Intermediate Vector Bosons are for the exchange of Weak Forces and W & Z Bosons are for the exchange of Strong Forces. These particles have n©¤ Spin Angular Momentum in contrast to Fermions which have spin angular momentum equal to (n+ !/2)©¤. Fermions are real material particles such as electrons, protons and neutrons. These obey Fermi-Dirac Statistics.
K. S. Krishna (1898- 1961)- He was a student of C. V. Raman. He became a Fellow of Royal Society in 1940.His contribution was in the field of Optics.
S. R. Ranganathan (1892- 1972)- His contribution was in the field of Mathematics and Library Science.
P. C. Mahalanobis (1893-1972)- He was the founder and builder of Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.
P. C. Ray (1861-1944)- Father of Indian Chemistry.
J. C. Ghosh (1893- 1959)- He is referred to as Institution Builder. He was the first Director of I.I.T. (Kharagpur). He was also associated with the development of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore . His contribution was in the field of the Theory of Strong Electrolytes.
T. R. Sheshadri. (1900- 1975)- His contribution was in Bio-Chemistry.
K. Venkataraman (1901-1981)- He was the Father of Dye Stuff Research. A particular chemical reaction is named after him as BAKER- VENKATARAMAN TRANSFORMATION.
Mahendralal Sircar (1833- 1904)- He was a Doctor by profession. He started Science Movement and in an effort to promote Research & Development he established Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science. C. V. Raman had done his pioneering work in Optics at this Institute in 1928 for which he received NOBEL PRIZE.
Ronald Ross (1857- 1932)- He was a Doctor by profession and did pioneering work in the area of mosquito and malarial fever.
Birbal Sahani (1891- 1949)- He was the pioneer in the field of Palaeobotany. A Palaeobotanical Institute was established by him in Lucknow which was later named after him.
Y. Subba Rao (1895- 1948)- He was the discoverer of Miracle Medicine. But he did most of his research in USA.
