Initially, it was apprehended that both the right and Left-wing students would clash. However, much to the relief of the administration the two groups instead greeted each other by clapping and raising slogans "Chhatra Ekta Zindabad".
District administration officials persuaded the students to constitute a five-member delegations so that they could be taken to Rajbhavan for a meeting with the governor, who would in turn refer their demand to the Union government. H
However, the agitating students did not pay heed to it and kept on demonstrating. Earlier, another group of students burnt effigies and tyres in front of Patna University office to register their protest.
A senior IPS officer told TOI that if this situation is not tackled immediately it might snowball into a major political issue.
