Three criminals lynched

PATNA: Three unidentified criminals were lynched by public in the state capital here in two separate incidents on Saturday.

While in the first incident, a criminal was lynched while he was making an attempt to flee after stealing a bicycle on Road No 14 at Rajiv Nagar around 2 am, two others were lynched in Sabjibagh area in the vicinity of Pirbahore police station late Saturday night following an alarm that they were looting a cloth shop.

Giving details of the first incident, police said that people of Road Number 14, Rajiv Nagar, who were already in a state of alert following a spate of robberies in the area recently, came out on the streets as soon as an alarm was raised that a burglary had been committed in a house nearby.

After a short search, the people located the criminal even as he was trying to flee on a stolen bicycle. They nabbed him and gave him a thorough thrashing due to which he fell unconscious and later succumbed to his injuries.

In the second incident, two persons were lynched in Sabjibagh area late Saturday after an alarm was raised that criminals had entered a cloth shop to commit robbery. People in the locality appeared on the scene and gave chase even as the criminals tried to flee.

They were, however, caught subsequently lynched. While one of them was lynched about 50 yards away from the cloth shop, the other was lynched about 50 yards east of the Pirbahore police station on Ashok Rajpath.

The police recovered two pistols and more than a dozen bullets from near the bodies of the slain criminals. With this, five criminals have been lynched in the state capital during the last 48-hours.

Two criminals were earlier lynched in Kurji Balupar locality, about one km from Rajiv Nagar, while they were fleeing with cash looted from a flour mill owner Mukesh Kumar on Thursday afternoon.

Truck stolen: A truck bearing registration number MH-04-BG 4847 was waylaid and stolen from National Pump, Hajipur, by unknown criminals. The truck, which was carrying Cadbury chocolates worth Rs 18 lakh, was dispatched from the company's factory located at Induri, Pune, for delivery to the company's godown at Shalimar Cold Storage, Anisabad.

A case has been lodged with the Hajipur Industrial Area Police Sation. Motorcycle stolen: A LML Freedom motorcycle was snatched at gun point by two criminals near Ansiabad Mor on Saturday afternoon. Police said the criminals left their own Hero Honda motorcycle at the spot and escaped with the looted vehicle.
