In fact, to make matters worse for senior students immediate action is taken and the culprits rounded-up whenever the magistrate on duty is tipped off regarding any ragging incident on the college campus.
"Senior teachers accompanied by the principal have been making rounds of the college at regular intervals to prevent the freshers from being ragged," said head of Sanskrit department, Akhilanand Tripathi.
Science College principal S N Guha said he has been personally monitoring the situation since August 29, when the first-year classes of Intermediate students commenced.
He has also requested the senior teachers of the college to keep constant vigil on the activities of senior students so that the freshers are not bullied in the pretext of ragging.
B N College admission in-charge and History teacher P K Poddar said no case of ragging had been reported till date in his institution. Stray incidents of ragging were reported by the newly-admitted girls of Magadh Mahila College and Patna Women's College.
They, however, admitted that it was not a "serious exercise". In most cases, ragging remained confined to making the freshers introduce themselves to seniors.
