HAJIPUR: Following a clash between two rival groups of undertrials on late Monday night, the Vaishali police conducted an hour-long raid in the Hajipur jail on Tuesday.
Vaishali SP Kamal Kishore said the police recovered five fans, 12 ovens and stoves and over three dozens iron rods from the different cells of undertrials.
"The rods were kept hidden inside the cells of undertrials," he said. It may be mentioned here that a bloody clash took place between the supporters of former Mahnar MLA Rama Singh and others in which one undertrial, Ranjit Rai, was injured. Rama Singh is in judicial custody and lodged in the Hajipur jail.
Rai has been admitted to the Sadar hospital here. Meanwhile, SP Kishore has requested the jail officials at the state headquarters to shift some notorious criminals lodged in the Hajipur jail to Bhagalpur jail on security ground.
