PATNA: It was a scene that seemed to have been taken from a Hindi film. Two identical looking "lost brothers" meeting after a gap of four years. Two mothers staking a claim to one of them.
Providing a further twist to the plot, one of the claimant was a Hindu and the other a Muslim. The police were as confused and bewildered as anyone else.
This incredible plot was a reality at Buddha Colony police station where both Seeta Devi and Noor Jehan claimed on Tuesday that Mukesh Kumar was their son.
Seeta Devi, a widow, claimed Mukesh was her son who had been "kidnapped" four years ago. "But I found him one year ago and since then he has been living with me," she said. Incidentally, Mukesh works at a small roadside dhaba for Rs 400 a month.
Noor Jehan, the other claimant, said the actual name of Mukesh is Saddam Alam. Saddam and his brother Noor Alam are twins.
