Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav said he would move Supreme Court against the Gujarat High Court judgment that quashed the appointment of the U.C.Bannerjee committee to probe “certain aspects” of the Godhra train carnage. “I will file an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Gujarat High Court order,” Lalu said at an iftar party hosted by Ram Vilas Paswan, Lok Janshakti Party leader and his Cabinet colleague from Bihar.
Lalu rejected BJP’s demand for his resignation, saying he would step down only if Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi quit his post. “Modi did not resign after the Gujarat riots. If Modi quits, I will resign,” he said. The BJP, according to him, had no moral right to seek his resignation.
