Three more suspected dengue cases were reported in Bihar Thursday, taking the number of those affected by the mosquito-borne virus to nine in the state.
Of the three cases reported since Wednesday one was from Darbhanga and two from Bhagalpur districts. However, medical tests have yet to confirm the disease.
The state government has decided to set up a dengue detection centre at Patna airport as well as at all railway stations in the state capital.
'Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is himself monitoring the situation and has asked top officials to take urgent steps to prevent spread of the disease,' an official said.
The state government sounded an alert Wednesday and asked the administration to take urgent preventive measures after four confirmed cases of dengue and two suspected ones were reported.
Among the dengue patients are two doctors, Abhijit Singh and Jyoti Ranjan, of a private hospital in Patna. Two dengue cases were confirmed in Biharsharif in Nalanda district, around 100 km from here. Two suspected cases were reported from Patna and Biharsharif.
