The Rajasthan High Court has ordered the state government of no traffic disruption for the VIP movement barring the President, vice-president and the Prime Minister.
This means the police couldn't disrupt traffic on a specified route for the governor, CM, Union and state ministers as well as other VIPs. Taking suo motu cognisance, Justice Ashok Parihar on Thursday served notices to the Rajasthan chief secretary, home secretary and the DGP to see that the orders were implemented within four weeks.
Justice Parihar said in the name of VIP movement, roads are blocked for the general public and often ambulances carrying patients are made to wait till the traffic was cleared. He said this has become a regular feature and people feel disturbed because of the inconvenience caused to them.
He said most of the traffic disruption is caused due to VIPs' arrival or departure from airport. All roads leading to the airports are closed for VIPs' movement. There are 40 people listed as VIPs in the state for whom traffic blocks are effected for the smooth movement of their cavalcade.
Vice-president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, had three years back asked the police not to stop traffic movement on roads from where the his carcade passes.
