Patna, Dec 20: After a branch of Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra and a National Law Institute, Bihar is now all set to have a centre of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
Nitish Kumar government has agreed to the conditions put forward by Union Textile ministry of providing 10 acres of land and Rs 29 crore for opening a branch of the NIFT.
The state government has earmarked 10 acres of land in Mithapur agriculture farm for the project, Bihar Industry Minister Gautam Singh told the media on Wednesday.
Kumar, who is himself an engineering graduate, was interested in opening a branch of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Patna as well, the minister said.
Kumar during his visit to IIM, Ahmedabad, discussed the project with its director.
Singh said the Centre had also in principle agreed to the state government's proposal to build 'Integrated Textile Parks' at Bhagalpur and Gaya in public-private partnership.
