PATNA: The state police have beefed up the security of former Union minister and BJP national secretary Shahnawaz Hussain after he received threatening calls from the Chhota Shakeel gang.
Inspector general (headquarters) Anil Sinha said a complaint had been registered with the Kotwali police station on the statement of the BJP leader.
Confirming that Hussain's security had been tightened, he said, "Investigation has begun and we have taken the matter seriously. We cannot disclose anything more at this stage."
Sinha said, "We will do whatever is required to be done. We are looking into every aspect of the case." He, however, did not confirm whether the police had verified the source of the telephone calls which were apparently made from Dubai.
Sources in the police refused to disclose whether the state police would seek assistance from any international police agency, such as Interpol, in order to initiate action in this case...
