PATNA: Health minister Chandra Mohan Rai on Saturday said Bihar had been breaking its own record of vaccinating largest number of children. In January, 2006, 2.06 crore children in the state were vaccinated which was the highest ever.
In February, this year the number increased to 2.11 crore, yet another highest figure, said the health minister while talking to mediapersons here on Saturday.
"This is matter of pride and prestige for our state as now it will not be listed among polio-endemic states. Our strategies are working and we have started getting results," Rai said adding the five-day polio round scheduled to start from April 9 will set new records.
He asked the people to have faith in vaccine and get their children vaccinated during polio immunisation campaigns and routine immunisation programme.
Rai assured the people that the vaccine available under the polio campaign and routine immunisation were of world standard. He urged mediapersons to inform people that all immunisation vaccines for polio eradication and prevention of other diseases were safe.
