Gang war even inside Bihar prisons led to the stabbing death of kidnapper Munna Bharti when rival gangsters with allegiance to Bindu Singh gang attacked him with knives at around 11:00 am on Wednesday at Patna's so-called Beur 'Model' Jail, officials confirmed.
According to the report, Munna was moving with other cohorts inside the internal jail compound when suddenly a group of inmates assaulted him with knives.
The incident caused a ruckus in the prison forcing the officials to sound the emergency alarm. The police then resorted to lathi charge to control the situation.
Munna was rushed to the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) where he was declared dead on arrival.
The police has identified three prisoners including one Kallu, Mithilesh, and Upnesh, who attacked 25-year old Munna, a member of the Shiv Gope gang. He was earlier arrested in a kidnapping case. On June 3, he and Kallu had argued over a seat in prison vehicle while being transported back to jail from a local court.
