British High Commissioner to India Michael Arthur, during his two-day trip to Bihar, on Wednesday, expressed his nation's desire to invest in Bihar while also inviting Bihari students to England for higher studies saying attractive scholarships, under new schemes, would be made available to them.
Praising the NDA government in the state for turning around business climate with favorable incentives to entrepreneurs, Arthur described his meeting with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi as 'very satisfactory'.
Nitish Mishra, the state sugar-cane minister was also present at the meeting.
The High Commissioner said the Brits were very interested in making investments in the field of sugar-cane, fertilizer, and energy productions. "Britain has a plethora of experts in these fields and they are more than willing to lend helping hands to Bihar to exploit its natural resources," Arthur said.
Touching on the topic that plagues nearly all countries in the world today, Arthur said terrorism was the biggest impediment in the development of any nation and it was high time all countries, including India, united against this problem.
Earlier, Arthur inaugurated a branch of Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corp (HSBC) in Patna.
