Acclaimed television star Shekhar Suman, on Monday evening, met with the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his residence on 1 Anne Marg and announced his decision to open a state-of-the-Heart hospital for children with cardiac ailments in Patna and presented his plan to him.
Kumar, wasting no time, accepted the actor's proposal and convened a meeting of top bureaucrats including Development Commissioner A. K. Chowdhary and Health Secretary Deepak Kumar and instructed them to give Suman's proposal the utmost priority.
"We will make available all the facilities including land and power at place of your choice," Kumar assured the actor of several movies and television hit shows including the hugely successful Movers and Shakers and Simply Shekhar.
Suman was accompanied by his father and prominent surgeon Dr. Phani Bhushan Prasad.
Since the loss of his oldest son due to heart-related problems a little over a decade ago, Suman had been wanting to build a top-notch children's hospital in Patna, Dr. Prasad said.
"This is also an attempt to come back to my roots," the actor said.
Kumar told the father-son duo that it was a privilege to have them at his residence and it was a matter of great pride for Bihar that Shekhar Suman was planning to give something back to the state from where he belonged.
