THE AIRPORTS Authority of India Employee's Joint Federation (AAIEJF) on Thursday said it will go on a 36-hour strike from August 17 against "arbitrary decisions" pertaining to privatisation of Delhi and Mumbai airports.
"We are going on a satyagraha' and all the union members will take mass leave on August 17-18 to protest the arbitrary decisions without holding the meeting of the tripartite committee, which was formed as a part of the privatisation process," AAIEJF convenor M K GHosal said.
The committee, comprising the government, AAI management and the employees, was formed to work out an amicable route to the privatisation process. He accused the government and the AAI management of preparing the operation management and development agreement (OMDA) without consulting the recognised workers union of AAI.
"Now they are forcing our colleagues to join the joint venture companies formed for the privatisaton of the two airports (Delhi and Mumbai) without their consent," he alleged.
