PATNA: The state government is going to revive Gandhi's concept of schooling, Basic School, for the benefit of poor and underprivileged sections of the society. CM Nitish Kumar said he has spoken to Union HRD minister Arjun Singh about it and "he was very positive and cooperative".
The CM told newsmen at JD(U) office on Tuesday that all the 391 basic schools in the state are lying shut but the government is preparing to revive them.
Regarding reservation in teachers' appointment, Nitish said the prevalent procedure will be applied. He said rules of reservations already exist and there was no need for any change in it.
The roaster system will also not be changed, he added. "Reservation for different sections, including women, will be both horizontal and vertical," he said, adding if there is any confusion or misunderstanding, the departments will look into it carefully. He also denied reports about possible delay in appointments.
