PATNA: Two months after 7/11 Mumbai blasts, the family of at least one victim finds itself virtually homeless.
Krishna Kumar, an official of the Indian Overseas Bank, died in the blast and the bank has asked his wife, Anju Kumari, to vacate the flat allotted to her husband in Malad (east) in Mumbai.
To add to her woes, the tenant of her Patna flat has refused to vacate it for her.
"My daughter wants to stay in Patna with her seven-year-old son... She is expecting another child. But all efforts to get the flat vacated has failed," said Srinath Prasad, Kumar's father-in-law.
In his late fifties, Prasad, a Reserve Bank of India official, said Anju has applied for a job in the Overseas Bank on compassionate ground.
Even if she gets the job, she would like to settle in Patna, he added. That the tenant is an activist of the ruling JD(U) has compounded the problems of the family.
