After a gap of nearly a decade, the people of Patna will once again be able to enjoy music and songs of nationally-acclaimed artists on the occasion of Durga Puja in Patna this year, officials in Patna said on Thursday.
The Nitish government has allocated Rs. 50 lakh to spend on an evening full of music, songs, and dances in an attempt to revive the musical tradition that once separated Patna from other big cities in the country during each Puja festival.
Organized by the Art and Culture cell of the state department, the programs will take place on September 29 and 30 with a seating capacity of 10,000 people, officials said.
Among the big names who have already committed to the program include renowned classical singer Kishori Amonkar, singer Manoj Tiwari, vocalists duo Pt. Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Kathak danseuse Shobhana Narayan, Tabla maestro Sabir Khan, Sarod player Pt. Narendra Nath Dhar, Pt. Kishan Maharaj, and famed Qawwali singer Anjum Bano, among others.
