Bihar to have 8 new sugar mill complexes
In bid to give a boost to production of sugar and allied products in Bihar, the Nitish Kumar government has cleared proposals for setting up eight new multi-purpose sugar mill complexes involving an estimated investment of Rs 2,157 cr.
The sugar complexes proposed to be set in Madhubani, East Champaran, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Madhepura, Begusarai and Nalanda districts would have the capacity of crushing 65,000 tonne sugarcane per day, informed an official spokesman. In addition to this, the complexes will have power generation units, once the multi-purpose sugar complexes are made operational. The complexes will also consist of distillery plants, which will have a capacity to produce 720 kilo litre of distillery. The state government has also decided to expand the capacity of five existing operational sugar mills, he added.
