To mark the World Literacy Day on Friday, the students of Patna Women's College formed a human chain to promote literacy among children from all background saying education was the birth right of every citizen and economic condition of a family should not come in the way of proper education.
Students carrying placards in their hands said the people must be made aware of the importance of education which was the backbone of any country.
Similar events were organized at Patna Women's Training College and near Maurya Lok Shopping Complex where children formed human chain to draw attention towards quality education for all.
International Literacy Day celebrated each year on September 8 was initiated by the United Nations in 1993 to promote literacy among millions of women, men, and children who are unable to read or write. This year's theme "Literacy Sustains Development", emphasizes that literacy is not only a positive outcome of development processes but also a lever of change and an instrument for achieving further social progress, according to the UNESCO declaration.
