The NDA government in Bihar is contemplating filing a lawsuit against the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav for promoting witchcraft and black magic in the backdrop of Yadav's sudden passion for yajna and prayers at the behest of his spiritual advisors.
Talking to the media persons at his residence during the Janata Durbar on Monday, Chief Minister said the government was reviewing the activities of the Railway Minister who, while he was in power in Bihar, vehemently denounced any measures that involved prayers, yajna, or other non-traditional means to 'please the God'.
"We are reviewing the anti-witchcraft laws to determine if Mr. Yadav or his wife Mrs. Rabri Devi has violated any law under the existing provisions," Nitish Kumar said.
"Such acts also put a big question mark on his secular credentials," Kumar told of Yadav who had been on a religious mode for some week now visiting sacred Hindu places of worship and performing both conventional and not-so-conventional pujas at his various residences.
Speaking about the RJD's foot rally in the name of development in Bihar, Kumar said that it was laughable that now Yadav has woke up to the needs of the state despite occupying power for 15 years.
"The Railway Minister is panicking to see all the developmental works initiated and undertaken by the NDA government so now he is showing his fake concerns about the welfare of the people of Bihar in the hope of winning voters in the next Lok Sabha elections," the Chief Minister said.
