Patna University VC Sets Goals to Regularize Session

At a meeting called by the Patna Vice Chancellor (VC) Y. C. Simadri and attended by all Patna University college principals and heads of the departments, the VC unveiled his three-point formula to regularize academic session in the colleges and restore the lost glories of the nation's historical university.

Emphasizing the need to regularize college sessions, instill a sense of discipline among the teachers and other university staff, and enforce punctuality in the colleges and offices, Simadri said it was very much possible to bring back the university's reputation that once it enjoyed within India and in other parts of the globe.

The VC provided a copy of the academic calendar prepared by the university officials to all the principals and the heads of the departments and asked them to give their comments on it.

"Once we finalize it, it will not be changed under any circumstances," he said.

Simadri also disclosed his plan to get university exam papers by a central body that could finish the job in a fraction of the time currently needed by the state teachers. "What takes two months to do a job can be done in 15 to 30 days," the VC said.

He also talked about upgrading college computer labs and availability of internet in college campuses saying there was no shortage of funding when it came to improve the status of the university.

Among those who attended Wednesday's meeting included Magadh Mahila College principal Dr. Sukhda Pandey, Patna Science College principal Dr. S. N. Guha, Patna Women's College principal Dr. Doris D'Souza, Patna Training College principal Dr. J. P. Sharma, and a number of other teachers and professors.
