Mukesh Ambani keen to invest in Bihar

By IANS Friday October 19, 06:00 PM Patna, Oct 19 (IANS) Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani Friday is keen to invest in Bihar, which he says must develop for India as a whole to prosper. 'Bihar, specially its rural areas, has a big potential for investment,' Ambani said here Friday after a meeting with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. 'We will make sure to do something in the state for its development.'

He described his visit here as the first step to understand and explore the potential for investment, since he believed that this state needed all the support to develop and help India prosper. 'Ours is not a short-term initiative, but a long-term one. Right now, we will identify and assess the investment potential in the state,' said Ambani, who arrived from Mumbai in his own aircraft. In the past one year, he is the fourth big industrialist to visit the state to explore investment possibilities. Those who came earlier are: Tata group chairman Ratan Tata, Mahindra and Mahindra group vice-chairman Anand Mahindra and Bharti group chairman and managing director Sunil Bharti Mittal. Ambani said he was impressed by the presentations made to his top-level team of executives by senior Bihar government officials. 'The rural areas in Bihar have a big potential for investment.' Officials in the Chief Minister's Office said that Mukesh Ambani was assured all possible help including land and security during the lunch hosted by Kumar at his official residence.
