Larsen And Toubro, Tatas Bid For Rail Wheel Factory Project

Larsen and Toubro and Tatas are in the race to set up the rail wheel factory in Chhapra on a public-private partnership basis with the Indian Railways.

Lalu Prasad, Union Minister of Railways, said this in a conference here today without sharing any further details.

Confirming the move, sources said, "These are the only two companies that participated in the tender. Their bids are under evaluation."

On the dedicated rail freight corridor project, he said that the eastern freight corridor would be connected to all major ports in West Bengal. On the SEZ issue, Prasad said that farmers should not be forced to sell land to the Government.

Prasad launched an e-learning portal for Company Secretaries Foundation Programme. Under the system, the students would be imparted coaching through web-based training.
