Bihar Foundation UK Team To Visit Bihar
The Bihar Foundation UK team will be visiting Bihar in the first week of November to hold talks with Government of Bihar; this was disclosed by Mr. R K Verma, Coordinator, India. The Foundation has recently been granted the membership of BOND (British Overseas NGO for Development) for its flood relief work in Bihar.
The decision to the above was taken at a meeting of the foundation in Manchester, UK. The team comprising Dr Murli Sinha, Dr Rajay Narain and others will reach Patna on 5th November. The team is going to hold initial round of talk with the government regarding proposed help from Environmental Agency UK and also to assess the post-flood regeneration programme. The meeting was attended by Prof Gajendra Verma, Prof Chris Bagley, Dr Ashok Pathak, Dr Amit Kishore, Dr Murli Sinha, Dr Rajay Narain and Dr Vishwajeet Singh. The Foundation recently had sent relief materials to several flood affected areas in Bihar. It has also had talks with Environmental Agency UK that has agreed to help Bihar and agencies in the state with flood prevention measures. The Foundation is also going to launch health programme through health camps especially in rural areas of Bihar. The team has also been invited to hold talks with the Scientific Foresight 2007 organising committee members to be held in December in Patna.
