India is all set to get three loans of up to USD 944 million from the World Bank for rural development, vocational education training projects and restoration of community-based water bodies.
Three agreements were signed to this effect here Friday.
'The three projects reflect the government's priority in rejuvenating the rural economy,' Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said.
A sum of USD 600 million was sanctioned for rural credit cooperative projects, USD 280 million for vocational education and USD 64 million for Karnataka's community based tank management project.
He also said under the vocational education project about 400 Indian technical institutes would be upgraded.
