HAJIPUR: Trouble-shooters were asked to be aware as the Vaishali police would act tough against such elements, who block roads and create nuisance day to day causing problems to common people.

And, this happenned at Mahnar on Saturday when locals squatted on Mahnar-Samastipur Road at Patel Chowk demanding immediate arrest of those involved in the tonsuring of a woman, Asha Devi, last Saturday.

Vaishali SP Paras Nath told TOI that this is not the first incident where a complaint had been registered against trouble-shooters engaged in road blockade at Patel Chowk under Mahnar police station on Saturday.  Paras made it clear that everyone has the right to hold demonstration but has no right to block road and create trouble for others. He said that such people can be booked under Section 341 the of IPC. He said that he had also urged public representatives to cooperate in such issues.

It so happenned that local residents at Mahnar blocked Mahnar-Samastipur Road at Patel Chowk on Saturday, demanding immediate arrest of those who were involved in tonsuring the head of a woman Asha Devi on last Saturday. They were also demanding immediate action against a police zamadar and munshi of Mahnar police station, alleging that they were seeking illegal gratification from the victim.

Devi, a resident of Raghunathpur village under Halai police outpost under Tajpur police station, said that she was married to Ram Das, a resident of ward number-8 under Mahnar police station about six years ago.

She said that her husband never treated her as his wife and later married another girl, a resident of English Khajbatta under Biddupur police station, about four months back.

The victim alleged that her in-laws started torturing her for Rs 50,000 for constructing a house. She further alleged that on Saturday, her in-laws caught her and tonsured her, saying that she could not bear a child. The victim said that when her brother Laalan Das went to lodge a complaint, he was shooed away by the policemen there.

When the villagers came to know about refusal by the police to register the case, they became agitated and held demonstration in front of local police station on December 7. On Saturday morning, the villagers blocked Mahnar-Samastipur Road demanding immediate arrest of those involved in the crime.
