BETTIAH: CM Nitish Kumar on Saturday laid the foundation stone of a medical college at Bettiah, the headquarters of West Champaran, thereby fulfilling the dream of the last queen of Bettiah Raj, Maharani Janaki Kunwar. He laid the foundation stone of the first of the four medical colleges promised by his government at the Maharaja Harendra Kishore stadium, Bettiah, amidst great rejoicing.
Addressing a jubilant crowd, Nitish said it was his seventh visit to the district, the seventh being when he laid the stone of the medical college. He said the construction work on the badly-needed college would start at the earliest possible, adding a polytechnic institute would also be established here.
Nitish said schemes for the construction of toilets have already started under the Lohia Swachchata Abhiyan, adding goverment fund would be not be limited only for people in the BPL list but also for people falling in the APL list adding one crore toilets would be completed within a year. Asking the people to maintain social and communal harmony, Nitish appealed to the people to help create a conducive environment for the development of Bihar adding that the day is not far when Bihar would be the torchbearer for the other states of the country.
