Railway minister Lalu Prasad got a pat from his wife and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi for presenting the ‘‘best-ever’’ railway budget in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
‘‘It’s a historic budget,’’ a jubilant Rabri Devi said even as she described her husband as ‘No. 1’ minister of India. ‘‘I have acknowledged him as No. 1 right from the beginning. I have never seen him doing anything wrong,’’ she said.
Rabri, however, refused to give a categorical reply when asked if she wants to see her husband as prime minister. ‘‘People want,’’ was all she said.
Asked what she liked most in the Railway Budget, Rabri said ticket prices had not been hiked and that profits had gone up. ‘‘Train fares have rather been reduced,’’ she said and expressed happiness over sanctioning of a locomotive factory in Madhepura.
Terming introduction of 32 trains, including five for Bihar, as a commendable step, she thanked Lalu for introducing the facility of lower berth reservation for women above 45 years travelling alone.
