It's festival of colour Here's a guide on how to play safe and, quite literally, save your skin
 - Try and cover up as much of your body as possible: full sleeved shirts and pants.Apply cold cream/ oil and a good, waterproof sunscreen on parts that are exposed.
- For your hair, use oils or gels to counter the harmful effects of colours
- After being painted green, red and blue, rejuvenate your skin by applying a good amount of cream or lotion that suits your skin-type. Use warm water and moisturising soap to scrub off the colours
- If the colours persist, use a cream cleanser or baby oil and gently massage over the affected area
- A word of caution: do not rub the skin vigorously with soaps. Opt for a cleanser and follow it up with lots of moisturiser, especially one that is meant for sensitive skins
- To reduce inflammation, if any, use anti-inflammatory cream with fewer side effects than topical steroids. However, if it gets worse, seek medical help immediately
- Antihistamine tablets may help reduce the irritation and are particularly useful at night
- In case of any rash or allergy, take a non-sedative, anti-allergic tablet, like Ceterizine. But it is always advisable to consult a doctor if the allergy continues
