To take stock of the human rights situation in Bihar, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is holding a three-day camp from tomorrow in Patna. During the camp, 263 cases, including of custodial death, police torture and illegal detention, would be taken up.
On May 19, the commission will hold a review meeting with the state authorities. During the meeting, various recommendations and concerns expressed by the NHRC, especially on economic, social, cultural, civil and political rights, will be discussed.
The NHRC will also hold a meeting with the chief secretaries and the DGPs from Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal on May 20.
