Nitish calls upon Police to change image

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday called upon the police to change their image and appear more smart and agile.

Inaugurating the Bihar Police Week, which is being organized for the fist time after about 28 years, at Mithilesh Stadium in Patna he announced that 12,877 constables and about 2,000 sub-inspectors would be recruited during the current financial year.

He said he had asked the director general of police to complete the recruitment process at the earliest and hope that he would do the needful so that appointments of sub-inspectors and constables can be completed within this year.

The chief minister took the salute of Bihar Military Police (BMP). He said the government in the state was committed to root out corruption at all levels for which a special vigilance unit has been constituted and it had succeeded in bringing to book a number of people.

Nitish also asked the police to maintain constant vigil so that communal harmony and brotherhood was maintained in the state, which has adopted thpolicy of zero tolerance against elements initiating it.
