We Replaced Gun Culture With Pen Culture: Nitish Kumar
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday said he had replaced "gun culture" in the state with "pen culture" in his three-year rule, appointing a record two lakhs teachers and one lakh more appointments on the offing.
Stating that his government had set a record by appointing two lakhs teachers and proposed to recruit one lakh more teachers, Kumar said his aim was to provide one teacher for every 40 students. "Soon after the creation of Jharkhand, people thought Bihar, having Lalu and 'balu' (sand), would never improve, but within three years the people of Bihar are leading a fearless life and enjoying all amenities like schools, health centres and availability of doctors in government hospitals," Kumar claimed. "Kidnap-cum-ransom industry has been shut down in Bihar. Massacres have been stopped and people are now moving freely without any fear...because of the peaceful environment created in the past three years," Kumar said. The Bihar Chief Minister was here to address an election meeting in support of JD(U) candidate for the January five Tamar bypoll.
