Speaking to TOI, Sharma said that the university has decided to publish its academic calendar to maintain examination and result publication schedules in the larger interests of students of both degree and postgraduate (PG) level. That apart, the university has also taken a decision to set up new medical, dental and technical colleges, he said, adding that the university has built a new hostel on its campus for providing accommodation to both boy and girl students.

According to Sharma, the university has increased about 25 seats in each PG department of the university to fulfil the needs of a large number of students seeking admission to PG courses.

Besides, it has also decided to introduce vocational courses in BBM, BCA and other courses, he said. As announced earlier, the university will install chairs after the names of first President Rajendra Prasad, Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narain, Maulana Mazharul Haque and renowned scholar Rahul Sankrityan this year, the VC said.

The VC said he has instructed the department concerned to ensure on-date payment to retiring teachers and staff of the university so that they do not have to run from pillar to post to get their retiral benefits. The university would soon hold a camp on its premises to make payment to retired teachers whose claims have been pending for long. The university would give priority to redressal of grievances of the teachers, he said.

Reiterating the commitment of university to make it a high-tech university, Sharma said efforts are being made to connect it online with other prestigious universities of the country. The university intends to provide modern laboratories, computer rooms, research and other facilities to students to maintain proper academic atmosphere on the university campus and in each college of the university, Sharma added.

According to Sharma, the university has asked all the principals and PG HoDs to maintain discipline on the campus at any cost. Besides, the university would now give patronage to students in extra curricular activities, he said.
