Data Cell All Set To Hasten Ranchi University (RU) Results
 Students pursuing different under-graduate and postgraduate courses from Ranchi University (RU) can expect early results, thanks to the data processing cell all set to function soon.The governor-cum-chancellor of universities, Syed Sibtey Razi, inaugurated the same on Saturday during the foundation day celebrations of RU. The cell, located near multipurpose examination hall on the Morabadi campus of RU, has 27 computers connected through a central server. All the data would be transferred to the centre within a few days, said Girija Shankar Nath Shahdeo, the officer on special duty (examinations) of RU. Earlier, the cramped tabulation centre at the Central Library building was entrusted with the task of publishing the results after the examination papers were checked by the evaluators. "From the issuance of registration numbers to RU students admitted in different courses to admit cards of examinations, marksheets, migration certificates, provisional degrees and original degrees, among others, would be done through examination data processing cell," added Shahdeo.
In lieu of the number of students getting admission in RU increasing every academic year, university officials said, the cell would be of great help. The number of students appearing in this year's degree Part-I examination exceeded the 50,000 mark while there is sizeable decrease in number of students taking the degree Part-II and the degree Part-III examination. The number of postgraduate students also runs into thousands while with the entry of many vocational and add-on courses, the total number of students pursuing different under-graduate and postgraduate studies has crossed over 1.5 lakh mark in RU. RU also happens to be an affiliating institution for medical, engineering, law and other courses. A team of computer operators has been appointed on a contractual basis, university's examination department officials and teachers deputed here would ensure early publication of results.
