Bihar To Announce New IT Policy With Several Incentives For Firms Soon: Anil Kumar

Bihar will announce its new IT policy with several incentives for firms in August, state IT Minister Anil Kumar said here Saturday.

“Bihar's new IT policy is in final stage. It is likely to get the cabinet approval by the end of this month and formally it would be announced next month,” Kumar said.

The state government put the draft IT Policy 2008 on its official website earlier this year for suggestions and comments.

The minister added that the new IT policy was an important move which would help Bihar catch up with other states. “In the coming years, Bihar will emerge as new IT hub,” Kumar said.

"The thrust of new IT policy would be to attract national and multinational IT companies to invest in the state," he said.

The state government is also planning to host a national level IT convention to lure corporate houses to invest in Bihar.

Kumar said the state-owned Beltron Friday signed an agreement with Tally (India) Pvt Ltd, a major accounting software and training provider.

Beltron is also setting up Bihar Knowledge Centre, where leading IT companies including Intel, Oracle, Microsoft and Tally would partner with the government to provide training to students.

The IT policy aims to set up world class IT infrastructure and connectivity for e-governance. It will also facilitate setting up of broadband digital networks and encourage national long distance operators (NLDOs) to build robust fibre optic network in Bihar.
