Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) is planning to launch a floating restaurant on the river Ganga. The Corporation is inviting private participation for operation, maintenance and management of the floating restaurant on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. The proposed project is expected to be completed by September 2008.
The floating restaurant has been constructed on a new vessel, which will have three levels. The restaurant with 48 covers will be on the main deck along with a recreation room and pantry, while the second level will have a will have a VIP cabin, staff cabins, a wheel house and an open sky deck for the passengers. The site currently proposed and developed for docking this floating restaurant is Gandhi Ghat in Patna, but the site could be changed later.
This initiative has been undertaken by the tourism department to attract more tourists as also provide a means of entertainment on river Ganges. Considering Patna attracts a lot of religious tourists who trail down the length of the river that passes through pilgrimage sites, this project by BSTDC is focusing on creating avenue for recreation and entertainment of the tourists,
