In an attempt to change the unfriendly and unapprochable image of the police, a senior cop in Bihar is trying to make himself accessible to public 24 x 7 by installing a call bell outside his house.
He calls it the "Jahangiri Ghanti." The bell is installed outside the residence of DIG Muzzafarpur.
Petitioner, Archana Chaudhary sought justice at Bihar's CM, Nitish Kumar's Janta Durbar for her 4 year old son who was killed a year back by her neighbour, but to no avail. She finally pressed the Jahangiri Ghanti.
Chaudhary said, (translated) " My 4-year-old son had been killed by slitting his throat and the culprits are still at large. I am tired from running pillars to post in search of justice. I have finally come to the DIG to seek justice."
The Jahangiri Ghanti is a brainchild of senior IPS officer Arvind Pandey, currently posted as DIG, Muzzafarpur.
